CELEBRATE LABOR DAY WEEKEND WITH A HIKE!
There's no better way to end one season and begin another...
Join us August 29 at 7 a.m. for this weekday
excursion as we venture into Round Canyon. This area is home to a
diverse community of plants and animals. Walk through oak and sycamore
woodlands, coastal sage scrub and riparian habitat. This canyon has a
number of old-growth oak trees that often provide daytime shelter for
roosting owls.
Areas of Round Canyon were burned in the 2007 Santiago Fire. Witness the spectacular rebirth of plants and trees during this program. A number of native plants in this canyon are currently in bloom so make sure to bring your camera to capture the colorful displays.
Round canyon is frequented by a number of night-time critters, like coyotes, skunks, bobcats and brush rabbits. On this hike, you will have the chance to see their footprints and other evidence that they wonder near by. This two-mile, two and a half hour hike is very easy, perfect for the hiker looking for a non-strenuous, scenic walk. The trail is consistently wide and has minimal elevation change. Come ready with sturdy shoes, your camera and plenty of water.
