Early Morning Hike Through Historic Agua Chinon
Start your day on the Natural Landmark...

Early birds, this hike is just for you! Welcome the day with a brisk hike in nature. Come out and explore the Irvine backcountry on August 2nd at 6:30 a.m. The journey will be four hours and seven miles in distance. This will be a beautiful adventure in Agua Chinon. Hike through areas that burned during the 2007 Santiago Fire; witness the rebirth and re-growth of the land!

Participants will have an up close look at the impressive recovery of the ecosystem, including sprouting oaks, blooming wildflowers and re-sprouting sagebrush. This hike travels though a very sunny canyon; bring proper sun protection and adequate water!

In addition, hikers will experience the historic Agua Chinon canyon and wash and trek past The Sinks; a breathtaking, geologic formation often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Orange County. Bolero Springs and the Agua Chinon wash were both vital water sources for early settlers of Orange County.

Remember to bring plenty of water, 70 oz. minimum, and a light trail snack. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We require that all participants stay with the group at all times and wear proper attire, including protective clothing, hat and proper hiking shoes.
