Dick Walters
Villa Park
Dick Walters has lived in Orange County for most of his life and was a trail runner and hiker in the local hills and open spaces throughout the years along with his fellow Docent and friend Tony Sanmartini. He has been a Docent for six years and is a regular on the trails.
Dick loves nature and appreciates the uniqueness of the wildlands on The Irvine Ranch. “I enjoy the quietness and openness of the hills which offers me a local escape from the busy city,” says Dick. “I enjoy all the wildlife and native plants. I also enjoy the different geological formations that exist in the wildlands.”
Dick is a hiking enthusiast and truly takes advantage of the various trails and hills that are available throughout the Natural Landmark. He enjoys volunteering because he likes meeting new people and also gets a chance to give back to the community, while using the land himself.
In addition to his love for nature and hiking Dick has lead a truly patriotic life having spent two years in the army stationed in Korea and Japan and was a combat infantryman during the Korean War.
He graduated from CSU Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in business. He and his wife have two daughters and three grandchildren. His other special interests include reading books and magazines particularly finance magazines.
