EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Field Naturalist Evelyn is a field naturalist for the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. She leads guided public tours and develops public programs in both the inland and coastal areas of The Irvine Ranch wildlands and parks. She also manages the Conservancy's natural history collection. Evelyn is the Conservancy's very-own bird expert. She is a walking, talking bird-encyclopedia so going on hikes with her is definitely an educational experience. "Evelyn is one of the top Naturalists in Southern California," said Dave Raetz, Director of Public Programs. "Her knowledge of the local flora and fauna is extensive and she regularly trains other naturalists, docents and environmental educators. She is also a tremendous writer and promotes The Irvine Ranch wildlands in various local, regional and national publications. She is and will be a shining star in the field of interpretation for years to come." Prior to joining the Conservancy, she spent eight years with the City of Anaheim's Oak Canyon Nature Center as a naturalist and site supervisor. Evelyn has also worked as a naturalist and public program developer for the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary. "Working for the Conservancy is incredible! I am so lucky to be part of an organization that has such a strong mission and dedicated team," said Evelyn. "As a naturalist, I get to spend my days sharing the fascinating beauty that is found throughout the wildlands. Every day there is something new and exciting to discover." Evelyn is certified through the National Association for Interpretation as both an interpretive guide and interpretive trainer. She is trained in CPR, AED resuscitation, first aid and Red Cross shelter management. Evelyn graduated with honors from Cal State Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in Biological Anthropology and English, and a master's in Environmental Studies, with an emphasis in Environmental Education. She is currently pursing a certificate in Field Ecology and Ornithology from University of California, Riverside. |
