Get Your Speed Fix As You Discover the Irvine Open Space Preserve…

Join us for a challenging, advanced, docent-led mountain bike ride through the Irvine Open Space Preserve on April 5 at 8:30 a.m. This is a strenuous, fast-paced mountain bike tour over steep and rugged terrain with multiple vertical climbs and descents. There will be fewer and shorter rest stops through the duration of the ride.

We highly encourage that you are an experienced mountain bike rider and possess a high level of fitness, and advanced mountain biking skills. Make sure to bring your mountain bike, helmet, 70 oz water (minimum), bike pump, spare tube, and tools. Energy bars or other trail snacks are highly recommended. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

We will begin our fast-paced adventure at the Quail Hill staging area. Quail hill is currently covered in a variety of spring wildflowers, including fiddleneck, morning glory and lupine. On a clear day, views from the high points on this ride will include all of metropolitan Orange County, the Santa Ana Mountains and the northern Irvine Ranch wildlands. Riders have the chance to encounter a variety of wildlife, including birds of prey, lizards, snakes, coyotes and bobcats.

This is an extremely strenuous ride. You should be confident in your abilities and must possess a high level of fitness. Please be advised that you may be turned away if you are not prepared for this extreme ride. If you feel the need for speed sign up today!
