Scat Has a Bad Rep
There’s more to that stench than meets the nose…
Find out why sometimes a pile of poop is just as exciting as a quick glimpse of the actual animal. Join us on Thursday, November 20th from 8 a.m. to noon at Fremont Canyon for this smelly, yet intriguing program. Discover the many clues that animals leave behind in their scat.
Finding scat on the trail can be an educational and fun activity. Scat can point out what the animal was doing, thinking, and even feeling; signs can show whether it was a male or female and even if the female was pregnant.
In addition to learning all about scat, participants will create a colorful array of art projects using fun mediums such as clay and paints to bring to life an understanding of the stinky side of nature. The first portion of the program is dedicated to animal evidence, including a short, one-mile hike to find tracks and scat.
Art materials will be provided, but please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
