Looks can be Deceiving...
Learn about Invasive Weeds that Threaten the Natural Landmarks

They may appear beautiful from a distance, but non-native plants are harmful to the natural habitats of the wildlands. On Saturday, September 13th join us at Bommer Canyon at 8 a.m. and get a first hand look at dangerous weeds in disguise. In addition to other problems, these plants dry out and become a huge fire hazard for the land. Learn to identify some of the "bad guys," while out on the trail and discover what you can do in your own backyard to stop the spread of these damaging weeds.

During this program you will learn how these plants were transported into the area. Learn the facts and separate the truth from folk-lore. Find out what makes these non-natives so nasty and what you can do to help.

The program will consist of hiking approximately three miles on the Bommer Canyon Loop Trail. This trail does have a few steep hills to climb and descend so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Don’t forget to bring ample water and sun protection.
